Calderwood has scored 15 tries for the Warriors in an impressive year

The 25-year-old winger misses a return to former club Leeds in Friday's final eliminator at Headingley after crashing into the advertising hoardings.

Warriors coach Brian Noble said: "It is a blow as he's been special for us."

With full-back or winger Chris Ashton having left to join Northampton, Wigan have no obvious replacement in line.

Centre Darrell Goulding is an option but Noble intends to keep Leeds guessing over his selection plans for as long as possible.

"Unfortunately, we can't open up a new can of Mark Calderwoods so we'll have to go with someone else and I'm pretty excited about what that person can achieve for us in this team," said Noble.

"It's well documented that we had a skinny squad at the start of the year. We haven't got a great deal of depth but I'm delighted where we're at. We're in the final eliminator and we want to go a little bit further.

"The good news is that everyone else is healthy."

Prop Iafeta Palea'aesina, who missed most of the Hull match after picking up a "dead leg" in the opening stages, is expected to be fit.

Hooker Shane Millard has also been cleared to play after he was told he had no case to answer over an alleged high and late tackle on Hull scrum-half Matthew Head.

The winners of Friday's game will meet defending champions St Helens in the final at Old Trafford on Saturday week.
