Michael Stone leaves Rushden & Diamonds for Barnet

Rushden & Diamonds

Rushden & Diamonds assistant manager Michael Stone has left the club to take up a coaching role with Barnet.

Stone, who joined Rushden in February 2009, helped manager Justin Edinburgh take the Nene Park outfit to the Blue Square Premier play-offs.

But the club says he has failed to agree terms for a new contract ahead of the coming season.

"We're obviously sad about the decision but we wish him well in the future," said chairman Keith Cousins.

Stone managed Wingate and Finchley in the Ryman League before heading to Rushden, having previously worked with academy and youth team players at Nottingham Forest and Tottenham.
