Rushden & Diamonds assistant manager Michael Stone has urged his players to learn from Tuesday's 1-0 home defeat at the hands of York City.
It was Rushden's first Blue Square Premier loss in seven matches, but followed on the back of their FA Cup exit at Brighton last weekend.
"When it's tight and difficult you need to come away with a draw and move on," Stone told BBC Radio Northampton.
"That's something the players really need to learn."
He continued: "We suffered three consecutive defeats earlier in the season and it's important as a squad we don't keep taking two steps forward and one step back.
"If we can show a bit more maturity in responding to defeats then we'll have something to hold on to."
