Rushden & Diamonds goalkeeper Nathan Abbey says he is hungry to get back to playing league football with the club.
The 31-year-old former Boston and MK Dons man is on a rolling contract at the Diamonds, and has impressed in the Blue Square Premier this season.
Abbey told BBC Radio Northampton: "Like everyone here, I don't want to be a Conference player. This team has got the desire to be in the league.
"I had a lot of offers but it was an easy decision to make [to join]."
Abbey has taken the number one shirt from England C international Dale Roberts at Nene Park, but he says his experience can help the 23-year-old.

"I get on tremendously with Dale. He's a young lad with loads of ability," he said.
"If he ever wants to ask me anything then I'm glad to help, and he's just as hungry to get back in team just as I'm hungry to stay here."
With Rushden playing Luton Town at the weekend, Abbey returns to his first professional club.
"It'll be a tough test. We've got to go there and forget the occasion and who we're playing. We're professionals and we're not going there to be walked over," he said.
