Rushden and Diamonds have signed striker Craig Farrell as part of the deal that has seen Michael Rankine move to the KitKat Crescent.
The Diamonds will also receive an undisclosed fee for Rankine from their Blue Square Premier rivals.
"It's an excellent bit of business for this football club," said Rushden manager Justin Edinburgh.
"I'm certainly looking forward to working with Craig and I think the crowd will quickly warm to him."
Farrell, 26, started his career as a junior with Middlesbrough and has also had spells with Leeds, Carlisle, Exeter and Oxford.
"Craig certainly has a great work ethic," added Edinburgh. "He's a clever player with a good first touch and I'm sure he'll chip in with his share of goals."
