Mills captained the Millers in the 2008/09 season

Rotherham have released six players following their play-off final defeat, including midfielder Pablo Mills.

Mills, 26, who joined United in 2006, played 40 League Two games this season, culminating with their 3-2 Wembley defeat by Dagenham & Redbridge.

Left-back Andy Nicholas, midfielder Micky Cummins, defender David Haggerty and midfielder Andy Liddell have all been told they will not get new deals.

Striker Drewe Broughton has also been released and has joined Lincoln City.

Millers boss Ronnie Moore told the club website: "I would like to thank all the players for their contribution to the club but I just felt that it was time for a change.

"Pablo has been here for a long time and he has done a great job while he has been here but I just feel that it is time now that we turn the club around and bring some new faces in.

"It is unfortunate for Pablo because he has played a lot of games for the club but I don't want to start playing with a sit-in midfielder anymore. We need a little more mobility in there.

"The decisions are hard especially when you look at the players and the contributions they have made to the club."

Meanwhile captain Ian Sharps and midfielder Danny Harrison have been offered new deals.
