Rotherham's on-loan midfielder Andy Liddell says he wants to play himself into a longer deal with the Millers.
The 36-year-old, who has played at Barnsley, Wigan and Sheffield United, was at Oldham last season but had his one-year contract terminated.
He is currently on a month-long deal at the Don Valley Stadium.
"If I do well then hopefully Rotherham will extend my contract, if I don't do well its down to me," Liddell told BBC Radio Sheffield.
He could feature in the Millers' season curtain raiser against Accrington on 8 August.
