Liddell has bagged eight goals for Wigan this season |
Wigan striker Andy Liddell is closing in on a return to action after a month out injured with a calf strain. Liddell was substituted during the 3-2 win at Crewe in December and has been out since, but he will play for the Latics' reserves on Wednesday.
"Andy seems fine now and it's a case of him getting a reserve game under his belt," said boss Paul Jewell.
"We haven't been able to rush him because if the calf muscle tore, he would have been out for quite a while.
"Andy will be in a strong reserve side at Wrexham, with Peter Kennedy, Tony Dinning, Mike Flynn, Paul Mitchell and Neil Roberts all involved," Jewell told the Wigan Evening Post.
Liddell's return to action means just Steve McMillan and on-loan Leicester defender Alan Rogers are on the Latics injury list.
