Luton won the Trophy in 2008/09 before suffering relegation
Norwich City face a tricky tie against Brentford in the first round of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.
The Canaries were not one of 16 teams to get a bye for the opening round of the Trophy, which is for League One and Two sides.
League newcomers Burton Albion and Torquay United will play Chesterfield United and Cheltenham Town.
Highlights will be on the BBC Sport website for UK users, of the games that start in the week commencing 31 August.
The eight northern teams to receive byes are Grimsby Town, Hartlepool Rovers, Leeds United, Macclesfield Town, Notts County, Port Vale, Shrewsbury Town and Tranmere Rovers.
Byes also go to Aldershot Town, Brighton & Hove Albion, Charlton Athletic, Exeter City, Leyton Orient, Southampton, Southend United and Swindon Town.
Last season's winners, Luton Town, are unable to defend their title following their relegation from the League at the end of last season.
