Reading carry on wait on for captain Ivar Ingimarsson
Ingimarsson joined Reading in 2003 from Brentford
Reading club captain Ivar Ingimarsson will miss the first few weeks of the season with a hamstring injury.
The 32-year-old Iceland international defender, who has been at the Berkshire club since 2003, has not played since tearing his hamstring in March.
The former Torquay, Brentford, Wolves and Brighton man told BBC Berkshire: "I'm still only training with the physio but I'm feeling extremely good.
"We have increased training and done some mild running and strengthening."
Although he has not played in a competitive game for four months, he has been impressed by the Royals' pre-season form and believes they will make a strong start to the Championship season.
"I'm sure we will do well - we are a good team, the build up to this season has been good," he said.
"A great trip to Slovenia and two wins now [against Wycombe and Wolves] means we have done well throughout pre-season and should have a good start to the league."
While Ingimarsson does not rule out Reading's chances of play-offs and promotions, he insists the Royals' Championship-winning season in 2005-06 has long been forgotten about.
"If we play well and play as a team like the manager has set it up then we have a good chance [of promotion]," he said.
"I prefer not to dwell too much on the past but it was a really good time and things went well for the team and that will never be taken away but I like to think about the future. We can think about the past when we are old people."
