Ingimarsson missed the end of this season with a hamstring injury
Reading captain and longest-serving player Ivar Ingimarsson has signed a new one-year contract at the club.
The 32-year-old defender's contract was due to expire this summer, but he will now stay until the end of next season.
The Iceland international joined Reading in October 2003 and has made 275 appearances for the club.
He said: "I always wanted to stay, it was about getting an agreement that was right for me and the club. I'm happy with that and I hope they are as well."
He told the club website: "I've always enjoyed my time here, when I joined I said this was a club going places and that's turned out to be right, it's been a very good time for the club.
"2010 was almost unbelievable, we had such a turnaround and it was amazing to even come close to the play-offs after where we were at Christmas time.

"That is credit to the manager and Nigel Gibbs, and it also makes me excited for next season. I hope we can build on the second half of the season and make a push."
Manager Brian McDermott said: "I am very pleased we've got everything concluded, we've been talking with him regularly because we wanted him here.
"He is our club captain and a very experienced player who has seen a lot of success over a period of time. He's played many games here and is very respected among the players and the staff, so we are delighted."
