Adam Yates set to sign new contract with Port Vale
Adam Yates has featured in every game for Port Vale this season
Port Vale full-back Adam Yates is set to agree a new contract with the League Two club, he has told BBC Radio Stoke.
"I love this football club and if I didn't, I wouldn't have agreed a new contract," he said. "Fingers crossed, I'll get it signed in a few days.
"I like the area, it's a big club, it's moving on and I want to be part of that. I'm happy here."
The 27-year-old full-back has played 86 games for Vale since joining on a free transfer from Morecambe in 2009.
Yates has started all but one of Vale's 49 games this season - and he came on as a substitute in the only game he did not begin, the 2-1 home defeat against Torquay in August.
Doug Loft, Gareth Owen, Kris Taylor and Gary Roberts are also out of contract at the end of the season.
Vale's promotion ambitions were dented on Saturday with a 1-1 draw against Southend at Vale Park.
However, Yates is confident that the Valiants can close a gap of three points to the play-off places in their five remaining matches, starting at Torquay this Saturday (16 April).
"It's very much alive and, if we'd have won on Saturday we would have been up there," he added.
"We're still not that far behind but we need to have a good run until the end of the season."
