Port Vale defender Adam Yates says he hopes to discuss extending his contract with manager Jim Gannon.
The 27-year-old has been the club's regular right-back this season but his current deal expires in the summer. He told BBC Radio Stoke: "Obviously it's very early days but I would love to stay at this football club and hopefully we can get promoted."
Yates has made over 70 starts for Valiants since signing from Morecambe in the the summer of 2009.
The defender is one of eight players out of contract this summer and Gannon has revealed he will consider whether to offer them new deals.
"It's natural to think about contracts and I'm sure players are conscious of it, but there's a time and place to sort that out," he said.
"As things settle down there will be more time to sit down with players and have constructive talks."
