Port Vale's Gary Roberts to miss Macclesfield clash
Roberts scored his first goal for Vale against Aldershot on Saturday
Gary Roberts will miss Port Vale's game against Macclesfield after picking up his fifth booking of the season.
The 23-year-old midfielder scored a tenth minute winner against Aldershot on Saturday before receiving his fifth caution in six league games.
He will now serve a one match ban against the struggling Silkmen.
"It's a bit disappointing but we've got a good squad and there'll be lads to come in and do a good job," he told BBC Radio Stoke.
Roberts has been an ever-present for Vale so far this season, and admitted winning his place back in the side could prove difficult.
"Hopefully I can get back in the week after, but if not I'll have to knuckle down because there's competition for places all around here," he said.
The former England youth international, who was sacked by Rotherham in April for breach of club discipline, was handed a contract extension until January 2012 last week.
