Jarrett has previously spent time on loan with Vale's local rivals Stoke City
League Two side Port Vale have signed midfielder Jason Jarrett on a short-term deal until 28 December.
The 30-year-old former Wigan man is a free agent after leaving Brighton at the end of last season.
"Jason is a player who is looking to kick-start his career and I believe he will add something to the squad," Vale boss Micky Adams told the club website.
Vale have also extended the loan spell of Plymouth left-back Damien McCrory for a further month.
The 19-year-old had originally returned to Home Park, with Saturday's 3-1 defeat at Notts County signalling the end of his initial one-month deal.
"We thought we had lost Damien, which was a shame as I believe he adds something for us," added Adams.
"However, Plymouth have now kindly agreed to loan him to us for another month on the terms of the original deal, which I am delighted about."
Meanwhile, Adams is standing by his decision to transfer list the rest of his squad following the defeat at Meadow Lane.
He told BBC Radio Stoke: "This was not a rehearsed rant. It was done for the good of the club and its supporters.
"If people think I'm kidding, we'll see. I think we needed to do something drastic to wake people up.
"If they're good enough then they'll stay here. If they're not, then they'll go.
"This might come back and kick me in the teeth. If that's the case, and the players don't make any effort, then the fans will see that."
