Taylor will look to retain his World Grand Prix title in Dublin in October |
Phil Taylor retained his South African Masters title with victory over James Wade in the final in Johannesburg. The 49-year-old, who earlier defeated Christo Meiring and John Part to reach the final, won 6-4 against the world number two from Aldershot. "I'm delighted to have won the South African Masters again," said Taylor, who took the title for a third time. "I love coming out here and playing in South Africa. It's a good tournament," added the Stoke-on-Trent player. Earlier, Mervyn King hit a nine-darter in his semi-final, but was unable to make it through against Wade. Taylor's next event is the World Grand Prix in Dublin, which takes place between October 5-11, with the world number one in search of a ninth Grand Prix victory.
