Foster is hoping for a place in Fabio Capello's World Cup squad next year
Former Stoke City goalkeeper Ben Foster is confident that the club can improve on their final league position of 12th in the Premier League.
Foster returned to the Britannia Stadium with Manchester United on Saturday and kept a clean sheet in a 2-0 win for the champions.
"They're doing really well and they're showing that they're no pushovers," Foster told BBC Radio Stoke.
"I think they'll take points off a lot of teams at home this season."
The 26-year-old joined Stoke from Racing Club Warwick in 2002, but never made a first-team appearance for the Potters before joining United for an initial £1m in August 2005.
"It was good to see some old faces, I've got some fond memories from the place, but I've come here with a different team, we came to get three points and thankfully we've done that," added Foster.
"It was nice for the fans to treat me well and it was nice to get the reception I did considering I never played a game for them."
Foster, who has won two England caps, is hoping for a place in Fabio Capello's squad for the World Cup in South Africa next summer.
