Brighton have completed the signing of out-of-favour Preston midfielder Jason Jarrett on a free transfer.
The 29-year-old, who has made only three appearances for North End this season, has signed a deal until the end of the season.
Brighton boss Micky Adams told the club website: "I am sure Jason will prove an important addition.
"He can add another dimension to our midfield while bringing some experience to the squad."
Jarrett joined Preston on a free transfer from Norwich in June 2006 and spent the second half of last season on loan at Oldham.
After coming through the ranks at Blackpool he has also had spells at Wrexham, Bury, Wigan, Stoke, Plymouth, Hull, Leicester and QPR.
Meanwhile, former Brighton winger Seb Carole is back at the club on a week's trial.
The Frenchman, 26, left to join Leeds in 2006 but was released by the Elland Road club last August.
Most recently he had a spell at Darlington, between December and January.
