Port Vale are capable of winning promotion from League Two next season, according to defender Adam Yates.
The Valiants finished 18th in 2008-09, but optimism is high that the arrival of new manager Micky Adams can bring success back to Vale Park.
Yates told BBC Radio Stoke: "It's a club that's far too big for this division. It's geared to go back up.
"It's a difficult league, so fans have got to be prepared for us to be more physical to get results."
Yates, who signed on a free transfer from Morecambe, is one of three new additions that Adams has made to his squad since arriving on 5 June.

Former Brighton players Tommy Fraser and Doug Loft have also signed contracts at Vale Park.
Yates has been handed the number 11 shirt for the new season, while Fraser has been given the number 10 and Loft will wear seven.
