Lifelong Port Vale fan Dave Smith is leaving the club's board.
The joint-vice chairman has cited business reasons behind his decision to resign after six years as a director.
Smith played his part in the club surviving when he bought £25,000 worth of shares when Valiant 2001 took the club out of administration.
The 53-year-old told BBC Radio Stoke: "I wish the chairman Bill Bratt and the other board members good luck in trying to progress the club."
