Adams undecided on Vale captaincy

Sam Stockley
Defender Stockley was appointed as captain by Lee Sinnott

Port Vale manager Micky Adams has said he is yet to decide whether Sam Stockley will remain as club captain.

Five different Vale players wore the captain's armband last season and Adams told BBC Radio Stoke he will consider the issue carefully.

"The captaincy is something that I will look at. I think I'm entitled to do that as the new manager," he said.

"Sam is not guaranteed anything, Like everyone here, he'll get a fair crack of the whip during pre-season."

Stockley, 31, was appointed as the Valiants' club captain following his arrival from Wycombe on a free transfer in July 2008.

However, a combination of injuries and a loss of form led to Stockley being absent for more than half of the League Two season.

Marc Richards, Dave Brammer, Gareth Owen and John McCombe were all named as skipper at various stages of the campaign.
