Port Vale midfielder Dave Brammer will not be at the club next season after being informed that he will not be offered a new contract.
The 34-year-old was notified by a voicemail message from the club's chairman Bill Bratt on Wednesday.
Brammer told BBC Radio Stoke:"I checked my phone and the message was left saying I wouldn't be getting anything.
"Having been at the club twice now I thought he could have phoned me back and spoken to me," he added.
Brammer joined Vale for a second time in October when he completed a loan deal from League One side Millwall.
But knee injuries limited Brammer to just 14 appearances during his second spell at the club.
