John Ward has been linked with the manager's job at Vale Park

Port Vale candidate John Ward has said he is ready to make his comeback into football management.

The 58-year-old, who has been out of a job since he was sacked by Carlisle in November, is understood to be the favourite to land the Vale job.

Ward told BBC Radio Stoke: "I believe that I can still do a good job at any club who wishes to employ me."

Vale are delaying naming their new boss because they have yet to reach an agreement with new investors Harlequin.
