Perry was told he can leave Port Vale by manager Dean Glover in February
Port Vale striker Kyle Perry has told BBC Radio Stoke he was surprised with manager Dean Glover's decision to start him in the 0-0 draw against Rotherham.
The 23-year-old, who was recalled from his loan at Northwich Victoria on 6 April, has already been told he can leave the club when his contract ends.
"It's difficult to be recalled, but this is my club and this is where I would rather play," said Perry.
"You've got to do what you can, because you never know who's watching."
Perry, who signed from non-league Chasetown in January 2008, is yet to score for Vale in 32 games.
He scored two goals in seven games for Northwich in the Conference Premier League, and he hopes that will help him find a new club for next season.
"A goal can do everything for an attacker," said Perry. "I used Northwich as a stepping stone to see what else was out there, and my agent was getting clubs to come and watch me.
"Different players have got their strengths. I'm a big unit and I use that to my advantage to irritate defenders.
"I'm happy to be back in the setup and hopefully I can move on from this."
