Danny Glover has scored three goals in 38 appearances for Vale
Port Vale supporters have been urged not to barrack Danny Glover by the Vale manager and player's father, Dean.
The 19-year-old striker was jeered by the travelling fans when he was brought on as a substitute in the 1-0 defeat at Exeter on Tuesday.
"It's sad. Unfortunately they're getting to him to get through to me," the Vale boss told BBC Radio Stoke.
"The son-father relationship is difficult in the workplace anyway when things aren't going right.
He added: "They're baying for my head but they're getting to Dan as well, which is wrong really."
Vale suffered their 22nd defeat of the season at Exeter, despite playing against 10 men for 70 minutes.
The home side had Danny Seaborne sent off for foul and abusive language in the first half, but they still forced Vale defender Luke Prosser to put through his own net, an own goal which eventually settled the game.
"After their lad gets sent off, within eight or nine minutes we concede a goal," said the Vale manager.
"It's harsh on Luke but we have to deal with the cross better. If someone gives him a shout, he lets the ball go across the goal. But unfortunately it hits him and goes in."
