Danny Glover has scored once in 26 appearances for Port Vale
Port Vale captain Marc Richards has urged fans to get behind teenage striker Danny Glover.
Glover, 19, is the son of Vale manager Dean and has come under fire from some sections of the Vale Park crowd in recent weeks.
Richards told BBC Radio Stoke: "Danny being the manager's son is not a reason for the fans to give him so much stick.
"The fans need to get off his back. He's still young and will be a good player if he works hard."
Glover has made 10 appearances for the Valiants this season and has yet to find the back of the net, but Richards believes the player still makes a valuable contribution to the team.
"I enjoy playing with Danny, he's got a decent touch and he's got pace," said Richards.
"There's no reason why he should be left out of the side, he's worked hard and been patient.
"Now he's taken his chance so he should stay in the team."
