Glover has been in temporary charge since Martin Foyle's exit |
Port Vale chairman Bill Bratt insists that caretaker boss Dean Glover remains a candidate to land the manager's job on a full-time basis. Vale will begin interviewing for a successor to Martin Foyle this week, and have also advertised the position.
But Bratt says Glover is still in the frame, despite Tuesday's defeat by Morecambe, where Glover said his side had played like "a pub team".
"We feel he was let down by certain players," Bratt said in a statement.

"Dean has the board's full sipport in the interim period, and has been given the go-ahead to strengthen the squad. "All options are being considered, including the possibility of an overseas manager, or reorganising the managerial structure to accommodate a player-coach."
Stevenage boss Mark Stimson recently revealed that his club had blocked an approach from Vale to speak to him.
