Injury problems behind Peterborough's James Wesolowski

Midfielder James Wesolowski says he is pleased to have played regularly for Peterborough United so far this season, given his previous injury problems.

The 23-year-old has appeared 19 times in League One for the Posh.

Wesolowski, who twice suffered a broken leg earlier in his career, told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "I've played my fair share of games, which is great.

"The last two years my main goal has been to stay injury free, so to be out for only three weeks is brilliant."

Wesolowski arrived at Posh from Leicester in June after four seasons at the Walkers Stadium.

When Darren came in he gave everyone a shot just like any other manager

He tore a medial ligament in September but was back in the side less than a month later.

"I've settled in well, I like the area and get on well with the lads. My next task is to really push on as there's plenty of competition for places," Wesolowski added.

The former Australia international was signed by Gary Johnson, who left London Road in early January.

Johnson was replaced by the returning Darren Ferguson, who named Wesolowski in the starting XI for his first game back in charge at the club.

"When Darren came in he gave everyone a shot just like any other manager and I've enjoyed playing under him," Wesolowski said.

"Training is sharper, we're working harder and that's paying off in matches."
