Posh appoint new goalkeeper coach

Peterborough United have appointed former Wales international Darren Ward as their new goalkeeping coach.

Ward, 35, retired from playing this summer and replaces Andy Dibble who left the club to spend more time with his family earlier this month.

Posh number one Joe Lewis told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "He was playing at Norwich when I was in the academy.

"He's a young coach, he's very enthusiastic and hopefully that will rub off on myself."

Ward was released by Sunderland over the summer, and he decided to hang up his gloves.

He has five Wales caps to his name and made over 250 appearances for Notts County before moving to Nottingham Forest in 2001.

Ward will work alongside Lewis and reserve keeper James McKeown at London Road.

"He's just finding his feet at the moment and having a look at us, seeing where our strengths and weaknesses are," Lewis said.

"I'm sure he'll be able to take us forward in terms of the technical side of the game."

Meanwhile, Dibble has taken up the position of goalkeeper coach at League Two side Rotherham.
