Ward is convinced he has the experience when called on |
Darren Ward is ready to make his first start in Norwich's goalkeeping jersey. Wales international Ward is on standby with Robert Green doubtful with a dead leg and Paul Gallacher sidelined with an ankle injury.
Ward played the second-half of Norwich's 4-0 defeat at Charlton and is in line to face fellow strugglers Southampton at Carrow Road.
"I wanted regular first-team football and this is what I joined Norwich for," said 30-year-old Ward.
The experienced Ward has more than 500 senior appearances to his name and is convinced he can do a good job if called upon.
He said: "I want to put as much pressure as I could on Robert.
"And when push comes to shove, I want to grasp the opportunity with both hands, if you pardon the pun, and hopefully, I will get that opportunity."
"It would be a big game for me - just to get on and play in the Premiership on Saturday was a big thrill for me.
"I have got 400 league games under my belt and I know what it's all about.
"If I play, I intend to got out there and do my job and hopefully it will be good enough."
