Ferguson is still looking for his first win in the second tier
Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson believes his side will soon pick up their first league win if they continue to play with attacking intent.
Slack defending cost Posh in Tuesday's 3-2 defeat by West Brom at London Road.
And Ferguson told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "I can take positives from the game, some of our attacking play was outstanding.
"When we went to three in the middle of the park we had magnificent movement, but we've lost another game."
Posh made the worst possible start against the Baggies with Joe Lewis fumbling a weak Luke Moore shot after just three minutes.
Ferguson's men were three down within 40 minutes, but came close to fighting back with goals from Craig Mackail-Smith and Aaron Mclean either side of half time.
Ferguson felt moving George Boyd into a more central role was the key to their improved second-half performance.
"We started with Shaun Batt on the right and Boyd on the left, but maybe Boyd should have started up front," he said.
"As soon as Boyd went up top he got us back in the game, he was outstanding - the best player on the pitch by miles."
Tommy Williams picked up a groin strain during the game and is a doubt for Preston on Saturday.
