Ferguson feels Posh should be on at least four points
Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson believes consistent team selection will be key if his side are to be successful this season.
Posh go into their third league match of the campaign against West Brom on Tuesday still looking for a first win.
However Ferguson intends to keep faith with the bulk of his starting XI.
He told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "If the performances hadn't been there then we might have needed changes, but we're unlucky not be on four points."
Posh wasted a number of chances against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday and could only manage a 1-1 draw.
Ferguson had to choose between Paul Coutts, Toumani Diagouraga, Lee Frecklington and Dean Keates in central midfield.
"I had a choice to make in the middle in the park and I just felt Coutts and Diagouraga was the right balance," he said.
"Frecklington was a bit unlucky, but he understood where I was coming from and I won't be making wholesale changes for West Brom."
Craig Mackail-Smith will be fit to start a second match in four days, despite missing most of pre-season.
Ferguson has given thought to the possibility of starting Tuesday's match with George Boyd partnering Aaron Mclean, Shaun Batt on the left wing and Mackail-Smith on the right.
"I might think about Shaun Batt coming in from the start, and whilst we stay as a 4-4-2, George is a different player to Craig," he said.
"But we might lose the impact of Shaun coming off the bench and messing the opposition around."
Ferguson is aiming to take three points from every home game this season and believes West Brom would be the ideal side to get a first win against.
"Everyone would identify West Brom as one of the favourites to get out of this league, so we know it will be difficult," he said.
"But if we could get the right the result it would fill everyone with confidence, including the fans, and we could really kick on."
