Sheffield Wednesday were pegged back for the second time in two games as Peterborough earned a draw thanks to Craig Mackail-Smith's equaliser.
The Owls opened the scoring when Marcus Tudgay crossed for James O'Connor to head them in front after 21 minutes.
Peterborough had goalkeeper Joe Lewis to thank for denying Jermaine Johnson a second for the Owls.
And the home side took full advantage when Tom Williams crossed for Mackail-Smith to level just after the hour.
Both sides pushed for a winner and Tommy Miller fired over from inside the box for Sheffield Wednesday as they had to settle for a point.
Posh started well but Gabriel Zakuani could only direct a header over and Aaron Mclean's attempted lob found the roof of the net.
Wednesday, who let a two-goal lead slip against Barnsley on the opening day of the season, made Posh pay for their profligacy when Tudgay crossed from the right and O'Connor headed them in front.
Peterborough could have been level just before the break when Paul Coutts' corner found Charlie Lee who headed wide from close range.
After the break, Posh got a deserved equaliser when Williams embarked on a fine run down the left and crossed for Mackail-Smith who headed in from close range.
Neither side wanted to settle for a draw but Mackail-Smith volleyed wide, Darren Purse blocked a shot from George Boyd and Miller fired off target.
Peterborough manager Darren Ferguson:
"It is a game I felt we deserved to win and one that we should have won.
"It was disappointing to concede in the manner we did, because we had spoken about their lad (O'Connor) coming forward from midfield.
"We know we have to be more ruthless in both boxes and that is something we will ensure happens.
"I can't have too many complaints about the performances, but getting results is the thing that matters."
Sheffield Wednesday boss Brian Laws:
"It was never going to be easy going to Peterborough for their first home game back in the Championship.
"They are used to winning, the crowd really get behind them and they have some very good players that we marshalled well, but I must admit we are a little bit disappointed not to have picked up all three points.
"But this is the sort of match we might well have lost last season, so we are definitely going in the right direction."
