Blackett has only featured in six first-team games this season
Peterborough United defender Shane Blackett says he is ready to play a major role in Posh's promotion charge.
The former Dagenham & Redbridge player, 26, made his return from a five-month injury lay-off in Tuesday's 1-0 win over Carlisle.
He told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "We're coming to the business part of the season now, hopefully I can make an impact on the team.
"We're in a great position to get promotion automatically."
Blackett, who has overcome a serious shoulder injury that required surgery, says the squad has the confidence that is required to reach the Championship.
"The players believe it, the management believe it and the fans are starting to believe it as well. The unity in the dressing room is brilliant," he said.
Posh take on Southend on Saturday as they continue their pursuit of MK Dons and Leicester who sit above them in the table and Blackett is desperate to play.
"I've been kicking every ball and heading every ball from the stands, so to be playing again is a delight," he said.
