Ferguson wants to draw a line under the Mclean situation

Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson has said the transfer status of striker Aaron Mclean is resolved as far as he is concerned.

Mclean, 25, has been transfer listed by request following interest from Wolves but returned to pre-season training with the rest of the Posh squad.

Ferguson told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "I don't think we have to go on about Aaron all the time or any more.

"The lad trained fine. If anyone wants him they are going to have to pay."

Posh have made it clear Championship side Wolverhampton would need to pay �3m up front with a further �2m should they win promotion to the Premier League.

McLean, who was top scorer for Posh last season, is yet to comment on the situation, but took part in the club's pre-season trip to Spain with the rest of the squad.

Ferguson has said the former Grays man will be part of his first 11 for as long he merits inclusion, and with Wolves unlikely to meet the club's asking price, he is looking to draw a line under the issue.

"I think it's important we put closure to that now because at the end of the day I've got another 21 players I've got to concentrate on," he said.

"Aaron's never been a problem in training and he's ready to go for the season."

Meanwhile, Ferguson has confirmed that the club are continuing to monitor Ebbsfleet striker John Akinde.

"He's a young lad, he's raw, and we've done well with the young players we have brought into the club," he said.

"He's one we're trying to get, but we're not going to break the bank to do it so it's an ongoing situation."
