Oxford United's Mark Creighton is out with toe injury
Creighton had just broken back into the U's team four games ago
Oxford United defender Mark Creighton faces a spell on the sidelines after fracturing and dislocating his toe in Tuesday's 1-1 draw at Cheltenham.
The 28-year-old was substituted after 14 minutes after picking up the injury at Whaddon Road.
He told BBC Oxford: "I've had the X-ray and the doctor confirmed a fracture and dislocation for my toe.
"Tomorrow [Thursday] morning I am going down to the fracture clinic to get an idea on what I can or can't do."
Creighton is not making any predictions about how long he will be out for but knew instantly he would not be able to continue at Whaddon Road.
He said: "I could tell every time I put my left foot down there was a popping as if they toe was coming in and out of the socket."
The former Kidderminster defender had made a successful return to the starting 11 in recent weeks while Jake Wright was unavailable because of a back problem.
Defender Leigh Franks will deputise in Creighton's place in Saturday's home game against League Two leaders Port Vale.
