Constable originally joined Oxford on loan from Shrewsbury Town in 2008
Oxford striker James Constable has set a target of 20 goals in his first full season in the Football League.
The 25-year-old former Walsall and Shrewsbury man scored 26 goals in all competitions last year as they won promotion from the Blue Square Premier.
"It's the big two zero, that's my main aim," Constable told BBC Oxford.
"I have scored over 25 in the two years I have been here. I'd love to do that again but 20 will be my target to start off with."
Constable has made 37 appearances in the Football League for the Saddlers and Shrews, scoring seven times, but never played a full season for either side.
Oxford United's squad returned to pre-season training last week and Constable believes the players have stayed in relatively good shape during their break.
He said: "Everybody knew the challenges we are going to have to face this season and we are all desperate to be a part of it and have looked after ourselves."
