Blackburn striker Nick Blackman hopes to use his current loan spell at Oldham to break into Rovers' first team.
The 19-year-old, who has joined the Latics until January, scored in Oldham's 1-1 draw at Brentford in League One on Saturday.
He told BBC Radio Manchester: "The aim is to score as many goals as possible, to develop and get that experience.
"Hopefully when I go back to Blackburn, I'll be able to push for a place in the first team or on the bench."
Blackman added: "I have set myself a target for number of goals while I'm here but I'm going to keep that to myself.
"I think it's achievable and if I do achieve it then I think I will have done very well.
"I didn't have the best game I've had for a long time against Brentford but I scored and that's the main thing.
"That's what people see at the end of the day. For a striker, that's what is the most important thing."
Meanwhile, Oldham have confirmed the release of Polish goalkeeper Przemyslaw Kazimierczak, who had been on a week-to-week contract at Boundary Park.
