Nick Blackman's second-half strike earned a point for Oldham at Brentford.
The Bees took the lead just before the break when Sam Saunders was brought down by Andy Holdsworth in the area and Kevin O'Connor converted from the spot.
Oldham levelled soon after the restart after Blackman curled a superb right-foot shot from the edge of the box.
Brentford's Carl Cort had a header tipped over and Steve Kabba sliced wide, while Pawel Abbott headed wide from close range for Oldham.
Brentford manager Andy Scott told BBC London 94.9:
"I think we did enough to win it. I don't think it was a terrific performance. It was a reasonable performance but could've been a lot better. It was a game I felt we should've won really.
"We're sat in there disappointed and we're saying we've gone five games unbeaten in this league and we don't believe we've played against a side that's better than us or will finish above us in the league.
"We'll see if that's true but we're confident that what we've played so far, we can compete with in this league."
