Oldham will open talks with left-back Alan Wright over a deal next week after the veteran defender impressed boss John Sheridan in a trial period. Wright, 35, is available on a free transfer after being released by Sheffield United last season.
He played 90 minutes in the Latics' 2-1 defeat at Rochdale on Tuesday night.
Sheridan told the club website: "He did okay against Rochdale considering he's only been with the lads two days. He's got experience and is a fine player."
