Oldham Athletic have re-signed their former midfielder Mark Allott from Chesterfield for an undisclosed fee. Allott, 29 has rejoined the club where he began his career after a six-year spell at Chesterfield.
The Middleton-born player made 39 appearances for the Spireites during their 2006/07 campaign.
"It's a blow because he has been one of our main players for the last three or four seasons," Spireites boss Lee Richardson told BBC Radio Sheffield.
"He will be difficult to replace, but no one player is bigger than the club and we wish him well."
Latics boss John Sheridan has also brought in Jean-Paul Kalala, Mark Crossley, John Thompson, Lee Hughes and Craig Davies over the summer.
