Notts County goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel admits he has had interest from other clubs, just days after his release from Meadow Lane was announced.

Schmeichel has been linked with moves to clubs including Premier League trio Birmingham, Blackburn and West Ham.

The 23-year-old told BBC Radio Nottingham: "We've had enquiries now but I've said to my advisers that I want to finish the season first.

"I want to finish on a high and we'll take it from there."

The former Manchester City goalkeeper helped the Magpies win League Two with a club record 24 clean sheets.

But he has been released from his five-year contract after only 12 months.

"Obviously the announcement was only made a couple of days ago, but we've got permission to speak to other clubs," Schmeichel added.

"I want to go away in the summer, re-evaluate and see what happens."
