Nowland is excited to be staying in league football

Notts County have signed midfielder Adam Nowland after the 26-year-old was released by Preston North End.

Nowland has been without a club since January and the move sees him link up again with manager Ian McParland.

He told BBC Radio Nottingham: "I'm really pleased to be here. I've known Charlie [McParland] since my days at Forest and he's given me this chance.

"I'm really looking forward to the challenge and am very excited about what we can do together next season."

Nowland spent less than a year with Forest and played just five times because of hamstring problems.

He left the City Ground in 2005 and signed his contract at Meadow Lane after meeting McParland and his coaching staff.
