Norwich City striker Chris Martin to wait for chance
Martin scored his first goal in 10 games on Saturday
Norwich City striker Chris Martin is happy to be patient in his pursuit of a place in the team's starting line-up.
The 22-year-old, who has been on the bench since September, grabbed a goal in Saturday's 2-2 draw with Burnley.
Boss Paul Lambert has opted to use Grant Holt and Simeon Jackson to spearhead his attack in recent weeks.
"Holty and Simeon have been doing very well, creating plenty of chances. If I have to bide my time a bit more I don't mind that," he told BBC Radio Norfolk.
Martin had started the season as a first-choice attacker for the Canaries, but after finding the net just once in his first eight Championship appearances this season, he lost his place in the side.
"Any professional footballer will tell you they want to play games, so it's frustrating having to watch on from the sidelines," he admitted.
"We're not built like that, it's not in our make-up, I've realised I have to bide my time, it always happens in football to just about anyone.
"I'm hoping I make enough of an impression to make him [Lambert] think a bit."
The front man's strike against the Clarets proved vital as City turned around a 2-0 deficit to share the points.
It means the Canaries have yet to lose back-to-back games in the same campaign since Lambert arrived in August last year, and Martin hopes the result will spark a good run of form.
"We're just glad we got a point out of the game," he said.
"Hopefully we can make that into a good point by going on an unbeaten run."
Norwich, who sit seventh in the table, travel to 16th-placed Millwall on Tuesday night.
