Norwich City manager Glenn Roeder has denied national newspaper reports that Matty Pattison is going to be checked into a rehabilitation clinic.
The midfielder was arrested for drink-driving at the weekend and a national newspaper reported that the club were sending him for treatment.
Roeder has denied the reports and has given his full support to Pattison.
He told BBC Radio Norfolk: "We have taken the view that he needs supporting and we'll help him get over this."
"You've got two choices, support someone who's made a mistake or throw them out into the wilderness.
"I'm sure we'll help him and make sure this doesn't happen again by us giving him support in his hour of need."
The story that made the back page of at least one national newspaper angered the Norwich boss.
"Its just been made up. Whether we decide at a later stage that we want to do something like that [rehabilitation], it will be an internal matter," he added.
