I'll give 100% on loan - Johnson

John Johnson
Johnson is in contention to go straight into the team for Shrewsbury

Northampton Town's loan signing John Johnson hopes to help the struggling Cobblers return to winning ways.

The 21-year-old is on loan from Middlesbrough for a month. He played four games for Tranmere during a spell at Prenton Park last season.

Johnson told BBC Radio Northampton: "Naturally players always want to win games. I want to perform and give 100% for the team.

"It's a different style of football here, and I'm looking forward to it."

Johnson has found it difficult to break into the first-team at Middlesbrough. Gareth Southgate's side lie third in the Championship.

"It's frustrating for a young player, playing a lot of reserve football. We've got a winning team so [the manager] is not changing too many things.

"But my focus is down here, hope I can play some games and get some wins on the board," Johnson added.
