Lucas earns a place on the shortlist after a successful season with the ball

Four Northamptonshire cricketers have been shortlisted for the club's player of the year award.

The winner will be announced at Northants' end-of-season dinner and presentation evening at Wantage Road on Monday September 28.

South African all-rounder Andrew Hall is strongly fancied after a prolific summer in both the County Championship and one-day competitions.

But fast bowler David Lucas is another strong contender for the trophy.

Opening batsman Stephen Peters and paceman Johan van der Wath complete the shortlist.

Northants will also honour their top young player of 2009, the outstanding Academy cricketer and clubman of the year.
