Northampton Town have signed Middlesbrough defender John Johnson on a one-month loan.
The 21-year-old can play at right-back, centre-back and midfield and has come through the ranks of the Middlesbrough youth team.
"John is a tough lad with a very good attitude," Cobblers caretaker manager Ian Sampson said.
"He is comfortable on the ball and can get forward and deliver balls into the box," he said.
Johnson was a player the Northampton Town coach Malcolm Crosby knew well from his time as at the club.
"He jumped at the chance to come here and that is important. He is keen to come here, get stuck in and do well for us," added Sampson.
Meanwhile, the Cobblers have also signed 20-year-old Long Buckby striker Courtney Herbert after a trial spell at Sixfields.
He played in two reserve team matches, scoring once.
Herbert has agreed a contract until June 2011 and is available to face Shrewsbury Town on Saturday.
But defender Robbie Threlfall has returned to Liverpool after completing one-month on loan at Sixfields.
