Northampton Town skipper Chris Doig has called for a huge team effort to take the club out of the League One relegation zone.
Defeat at Yeovil on Tuesday sent the Cobblers into the bottom four.
"We have had words in the dressing room again but it's about time that all 11 stood up to be counted," Doig told BBC Radio Northampton.
"We've seven games left, that's 21 points, it's in our hands but I think we need to drastically improve."
Doig added: "I'm disappointed, angry, upset, I have a lot of emotions. We need to win games.
"I think there are a lot of things to be addressed. Yes we're not getting the odd bounce here and there but they're excuses in my eyes.
"There are a lot of things that we need to address and get sorted.
Doig's comments are echoed by fellow centre-half Mark Hughes: "We have to show a bit of character now we are in the bottom four and we need wins desperately.
"We need to stick together, work hard in training and be positive even though it's hard but we need 11 leaders.
"Maybe the boys will see the table in the paper and realise that we have got an uphill battle. Every game is going to be a cup final now."
Last year's player of the season Danny Jackman said: "We've got ourselves into this mess and it's down to us to get out of it.
"It's still in our hands because we have an extra game in hand on a few of the teams but we have a lot of hard work to do and we've all got to grind together and pull in the right direction."
Northampton's next match is away to Bristol Rovers on Good Friday which is live on BBC Radio Northampton.
