Northampton Town have signed Chelsea defender Carl Magnay on a one-month loan deal.

The 20-year-old, who has been a regular in Chelsea's reserves this season, has previously had a loan spell at MK Dons.

The utility defender was with Leeds as a youngster but won his contract at Chelsea through the national television show Football Icon in 2006.

"Carl can play anywhere along the back four and he can also sit in midfield," said Cobblers boss Stuart Gray.
